Presenting my first project for my Narrative class. This sort of thing is really going to get me into trouble, considering we really didn’t have to put this many hours of work into it, but I was excited to finally have an excuse to draw comics again. I really just started drawing comics over the summer of 2008, but it’s a medium I have great respect for.
This story is based off of an autobiographical account of Shantell’s childhood, better known on the web as Shanmonster:
I have been reading her autobiographical essays for laughs since I was in the sixth grade (she might be horrified to know), and as the now pagan/athiest bellydancing nude model daughter of trailer park jehova’s witnesses, you can imagine it is good reading. It was her site that got me into belly dance and nude modeling later in life, and for that I’m pretty grateful. Here is the original story of Carla, and below is my very much abbreviated rendition.

Oh my that is dark, disturbing and beautiful. I love this.

Awesome.
A beautiful rendition of Shan’s story!
Page three is brought to you by the National Safety Council.
(I still love this thing, especially the final page and polka dot addition. Because I totally couldn’t have told you in person; the internet makes it mean so much more.)
