I was inspired by Yelena’s beautiful handmade sketchbook (Becca also), and since I’ve been working on the last pages of four or five cheap storebought ones for months, I decided to try for myself.
I sewed it on my Espire sewing machine, which I love so much i could marry it. It was my mom’s in college during the 70′s, and it has a digital read out and great design <3
I love bright red calico. When I was a child, living in the french country-side, this fabric was very popular for making children’s things. I’m pretty sure I had some clothing made from it, and I had a soft fabric-book with vinyl shapes, animals, and numbers inside that had this print on the outside. As an adult, I love bright red and the sight of red calico makes me nostalgic.
This only took me two and a half hours to make, and I’m sure I could do it faster. If the blue version I’m making now is a success, I might sell these in my etsy shop. Thanks for the idea, Yelena!
